You’re Invited!

Hey there! It’s been some time since we’ve updated out blog. However, in the past few months, Cassandra finished school, tried to catch up on lost free time, and now more importantly, we’ve been in full on wedding details mode. Needless-to-say, we’ve been a little busy.

The good news is, in that span of time, we also sent out wedding invitations. So, if you’re reading this, hopefully you’ve received yours and you’re working on those song requests and sending back your RSVPs!

Unfortunately sometimes things really do get lost in the mail. So, if you received a Save the Date, but not an invitation, please let us know so that we can send out another one.

P.S. We went through Ann’s Bridal Bargains for wedding invitations, and they sent us plenty of extra invitations for just such cases. By the way, the invitations turned out great and we hope you loved them as much as we did. Here’s a little plug for them if you know anyone else in need of discounted invitations or wedding supplies.

Anyway, we’re 75 days away and we’re starting to feel the excitement as we round the home stretch. Speaking of crunch time, Steve updated lodging details to reflect what rooms are left in the block we reserved at the Double Tree by Hilton Racine Harbourwalk. We understand that staying overnight might be a last minute decision, and staying at the Hilton might not be what one needs per se. So Steve also listed a few other hotels in the area that are about 20 minutes (driving) away from the DeKoven Center. Check out the Transportation and Lodging page.

Next up, creating an Instagram hashtag and a Wedpics account. Stay tuned for more information.

We’re Registered!

In the past few weeks, we’ve gone back and forth about how we announce our registry. It means asking people for things we’d like or, even harder to pose *gulp* ask for money…which is sorta…kinda… oh hell, it’s awkward. But we tried to look at it from a guest perspective, and when we go to a wedding, we know it’s a place to bring gifts.  Steve and I LOVE giving gifts, but it can be frustrating to not know what a person/couple wants or needs.

Think of it this way, too: if you’re the one to buy the waffle maker, then you should know you have dibs on a comfy spare room and a waffle breakfast among other perks of visiting us at our home. Don’t all fight over the waffle maker at once.

Many of the things we’ve decided upon are small and/or useful. We also know that we value experiences just as much as some of the physical things. That said, we hope there is a blend of both in the items we have chosen. We also understand that some things may cost a bit more than what some are looking to spend in one sitting, so we’ve defined those gifts as “group gifts”. There is no expectation, of course, but if you (plus a group) would like to make a particular gift happen, it is set up as such so that a group can contribute to that particular gift with less financial stress.

Finally, we understand there is no expectation and we mean no offense. We’ve tried our hardest to follow wedding etiquette and realize the margin for error is…small or great depending on what you read. The most important thing to us is for you to celebrate with us on August 26, 2017.

We’ve come a long way since December 1, 2015 when Steve first proposed by the lake. (All together, “awww!”)
